Terms of Service
Last updated October 7, 2026
These terms cover your use of Toolbox Local ("we", "us"), a service that turns public building-permit records in Bakersfield and Kern County into leads for contractors. By creating an account you agree to them.
Accounts
You must give accurate information and keep your login private. One account is for one business. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
Subscriptions and trials
- Paid plans are monthly or annual subscriptions billed by Stripe.
- Pro and Builder Leads include a 14-day free trial. Exclusive includes a 7-day free trial. A card is required to start a trial.
- Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged and the subscription renews automatically each month or year at the then-current price.
- Founding prices stay with your subscription while it remains active.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel anytime in Settings. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for, then the plan ends. We don't give refunds or credits for partial periods.
Territories
- Exclusive territories are exclusive by trade: one business per trade per territory. Other trades can still see the same leads.
- When a territory you share is claimed, existing members get a 7-day first right to claim it first.
- We never take away what someone already pays for. Members already in a territory when it's claimed keep their access (grandfathering), and the Exclusive holder gets a discount for each one.
- Exclusivity ends when the Exclusive subscription ends.
Permit data
Leads come from public permit records published by the City of Bakersfield (monthly, usually 4–8 weeks after the month ends) and Kern County (weekly). We provide them as-is, with no guarantee of accuracy, completeness or results. We don't promise any number of leads, jobs or revenue. Calculator figures are estimates only.
Acceptable use
- Don't resell, publish, or share lead data outside your own business.
- Don't harass homeowners. Follow all laws on mail, phone, text and door-to-door contact, including do-not-call rules, and respect requests to stop contacting someone.
- Don't scrape, copy in bulk, or try to get around access limits or security.
We can suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Toolbox Local isn't liable for indirect, incidental or lost-profit damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 3 months before the claim.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll email you before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
